If you’re a natural health enthusiast, you probably know about the benefits of apple cider vinegar (ACV). While drinking ACV in water daily can become monotonous, these apple cider vinegar gummies offer a delicious and convenient alternative to get your daily dose and enjoy the health benefits of ACV.
Delicious ACV Gummies
Apple cider vinegar might not be the first ingredient you consider for a tasty gummy. Although I’ve made flavorful tangerine gummies and berry probiotic gummies, I’ve also created unusual ones like activated charcoal gummies. ACV not only brings notable health benefits but also adds a sweet and sour tang to this version. To balance flavors, I incorporate raw honey and juice.
In recent years, ACV gummies have risen in popularity, appearing even in large retail stores. They often claim to be gluten-free, non-GMO, and include added vitamins like folic acid. However, many of these gummies contain high sugar levels due to ingredients like tapioca syrup and cane sugar. Consuming gummies with processed sugar can lead to cavities, especially when taken daily.
Creating homemade ACV gummies allows you to enjoy the benefits of ACV without unnecessary ingredients.
Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar
ACV has gained popularity recently, but why is it so beneficial? Known as acetic acid in simple terms, I use distilled white vinegar for cleaning and reserve apple cider vinegar for food and supplements. You can discover the health benefits of ACV, but here’s a brief overview:
-
Heart Health: Animal studies show ACV boosts calcium absorption, preventing calcium from accumulating in the arteries and helping lower systolic blood pressure.
-
Cancer: Although ACV won’t cure cancer, it provides benefits. Studies on leukemia and colon cancer indicate ACV helps inhibit tumor growth and stimulates natural killer cell activity. It’s important to note these studies were in vitro and animal-based, so further research is needed. ACV is rich in antioxidants, aiding in fighting free radical damage.
-
Blood Sugar Levels: Studies reveal that pairing vinegar with carbohydrate-rich meals reduces glycemic load. ACV also enhances feelings of fullness, with several human studies linking ACV to health benefits.
-
Weight Loss: Research examining body weight, BMI, organ fat, waist size, and blood triglyceride levels showed that groups consuming ACV had better results than placebo groups. Several studies confirm ACV’s assistance in weight management and curbing cravings.
- AGEs (Advanced Glycation End Products): These harmful compounds cause disease and inflammation, forming when protein and fat combine with sugar in the bloodstream. Fruit vinegars are rich in polyphenols and act as AGE inhibitors. ACV also aids in lowering blood sugar.
Additional ACV Health Benefits
Further benefits of ACV for improved health include:
- Reduced inflammation observed in animal studies
- Reduction of kidney stones
- Enhanced energy levels due to overall better health
- Contains good bacteria for gut health and immune function enhancement
Consuming vinegar in water regularly can erode tooth enamel. It’s crucial to pair it with enamel-supporting foods like gelatin. Gelatin also supports gut health and boosts the immune system. I also focus on healthy fats, bone broth, and grass-fed animal products for nutrients.
How to Make ACV Gummies
Gelatin is essential for the gummies’ gel-like texture. Ensure the use of gelatin, not collagen peptides, or the result will be liquid. While some vegan recipes use pectin or agar, I haven’t tried these alternatives.
Juice is included to mellow the ACV tang. To enhance apple flavors, use apple juice or apple cider. I used pomegranate juice for a recent batch, which was delicious!
For less sweet juice, increasing honey is advisable. I found 1/4 cup sufficient, but 1/3 cup can be used with a reduction of juice by 1 tablespoon for sweeter gummies.
