Beet Energy Gummies

beet gummies

Beets are among my favorite veggies. I incorporate beet root powder into homemade blush, toss them into salads, and create delicious strawberry beet fruit leather. Beet root gummies offer a tasty way to enjoy the benefits of beets in a gummy form.

My children love chewable vitamins, and beet gummies are packed with nutrients. They serve as a refined sugar-free, gluten-free method to boost their diet’s nutrition. In addition, they provide added perks for athletes or anyone seeking enhanced energy or cognitive function. This humble root vegetable truly has much to offer!

While you can find pre-made beet root extract gummies in stores, making them at home is simple. Many commercial beet chews contain added ingredients I’d rather avoid.

What’s So Great About Beets?

Beets owe their red color to anti-inflammatory and antioxidant compounds called betalains. Yellow beets share these advantages, deriving from betaxanthins. They not only shield against oxidative harm but also reduce inflammation. A 2014 study found participants taking beet root extract supplements experienced 27% less pain than the placebo group and had notably higher energy levels.

Beets are also rich in nitrates, which convert to nitric oxide in the body and boost blood flow. Research supports nitric oxide’s role in enhancing blood circulation and overall heart health. Beets help maintain natural blood pressure levels and further support cardiovascular health by improving the function of heart cells and the lining of blood and lymphatic vessels.

A meta-analysis revealed that nitric oxide supplements improved endurance in non-athletes during athletic tests. Beets, with their high nitrate content, offer similar benefits for physical performance. Additionally, beets provide a mental energy boost.

Beets contain vitamin C, B vitamins, iron, manganese, potassium, copper, zinc, and magnesium. Learn more about their remarkable qualities here.

Health Benefits of Pomegranates

Pomegranates are another powerhouse food brimming with antioxidants and nutrients. They’ve been extensively researched for their anti-cancer properties and blood pressure benefits. Studies suggest pomegranate juice enhances exercise and recovery. Even if we’re not professional athletes, anything that aids movement and recovery is beneficial.

Pomegranates contain potassium, zinc, magnesium, and half of our daily copper requirement. They also offer high levels of vitamins C, K, E, and B vitamins.

Of course, there’s gelatin, which binds everything together in this recipe. Gelatin boasts its own impressive health benefits, which I delve into here.

How to Make Beet Gummies

The method is similar to other gummy recipes. Instead of beet juice, I use the entire beet root. Juicing beets can be messy, and not everyone owns a juicer. Finding ready-made beet juice in stores can also be tricky.

Cut the beet into chunks and blend with pomegranate juice. Ensure the blender lid is secure as this mixture can stain! Mix in the gelatin, pour into your preferred molds, and voilà, delicious beet gummies.

  1. Add the beets, pomegranate juice, and raw honey to a blender. Blend until smooth.
  2. Strain the mixture through a sieve, then transfer the liquid to a pot.
  3. Evenly sprinkle gelatin over the juice and let it sit for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Once the gelatin absorbs, turn the heat on low and stir gently until the mixture is smooth, about 1-2 minutes.
  5. Turn off the heat and promptly pour into silicone molds. Refrigerate for an hour or until firm, then enjoy!

These gummies are not concentrated beet root extract (like pre-made supplements). They lack added sugars and synthetic vitamins, allowing for a larger serving size. They keep well in the fridge for about a week.
